YO, PIRATE.
My blog, like yours, is on the INTERNET, which is free for all. I can't control your actions, but it'll be on your conscience, if you do stupid stuff.

Hey world!
SYF is over. Boon or bane, I can't say for sure now. We got silver. Dissapointing but considering the factors, such as the order of our apperence, the number of sec1's, the size of our band, and every other tinny-winny detail, involved, we did pretty well. After slogging our guts out for 6 uber long months, we achieved what we deserved. Here's my journey since I joined PYMB...
Tahir recruited me last year, when the neighbourhood's primary schools were touring PingYi. They did their concert band thingy. I told him they looked good, and he ask if I wanted to join as a volunteer as they were short of members. I agreed. YiLian and Estee approached me and asked if I was serious. No big wonder, as I was a terrible person then. I filled up the glorified application sheet[foolscap paper] and was told to go for band the following week.
I showed up the following week. When I first saw them fall in, I got apprerihensive about joining. The level of discipline was top. For the first few practices, we were trained on how to march. Marching is like THE foundation of a marching band. Then after a few practices, we, the volunteers, were assigned to our sections. I went to trombone, a section and an instrument that I now worship and love. At first, I wasn't happy, because of my section leader[SL], Winston. Reason? He likes Jolene, the flute section leader, a wonderful girl whom I liked at that time. But after breaking the ice, he is a very nice guy. Trombone section, at that time, consisted of Winston, QiuRong, HeTong, ZhaoXun, BingChow, Denise, Carmel, PengLin, Malik and I. We bonded well, until problems strained me and Malik's relationship. We learnt music pretty fast.
In early December last year, we had a camp. It was fun, but I did not stay over, something which I regret now. The band bonded even more during the camp. I made lots of new friends and 'lovers'.
Later in the month, the band, bar the volunteers, went to KL-Genting for a band trip. I was the only volunteer who went, thanks to Shakeela. Wajing, YiLian, Ati-clar, Ati-tom, Sudiana, Aidil, Azwan and I were in the same group. A great bunch! We were like family, just like the band. We ate, drank and had fun together. and that was when I had a crush on YiLian. Haha! The theme park, the restaurants, the cafes. Oh the times... And we also watched a marching band competetion, much like the SYF.
The next event was ROD. I did not take part, sadly. But at least I took videos:] The performances were great!
Next up, Sec1 orientation! The start of a new beginning. The time when new members join our family. The recruitment drive was madness. The results were positive.
Trombone section's new members are Yuni, Ashikin and Jeffery. We were unsure about them as, to be frank, they didn't look to enthu. But over time,as we train together, through the fun, the pain, the joy, thetears, we are now very close. But they could still show more enthusasm.:]
PYMB, my devotion for the past 6 months, has led me, and its members a long way. From the playful and ill-disciplined kid I was, I have, as quoted by teachers and close ones, grown to become a significantly more disciplined, more motivated teenager. The times I've spent with the band, the sweat, the tears, the pain, the scoldings the punishments, these have [relatively] groomed me into becoming a better person.Of course, the band didn't come without fun. The joys, the laughter.
It has been a long, tiring, but extremly wonderful journey we have spent together. Here are the people whom I owe my life to:-
Mr Poh: You've scolded me. You've punished me. You've embarrassed me. You've humiliated me. You've made me a better person. I thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
Mr Yap: You've been the less-fierce Mr Poh. I thank you for the times.
Majors: Tahir, YiLian, Estee and WaJing. The greatest leaders, ever, I've set my eyes on. You are my idols, especially Tahir. You guys are THE role models for the band, and bloodly good ones at that. Tahir, you were a friend before I join band, and now, you're a bro. YiLian and Estee, I know you don't like my monkey-ness in band, but I hope I have brought fun in your lives. BTW, you both owe me hugs:] WaJing, even though you're a year younger than me, I will still respect you as the future drum major you are. Lead PYMB to sucess in 2010!
Trombonists: You all have thought me to play and appriciate the instrument I've grown to love. Thanks to the Sec2's, especially HeTong for the music lessons, BingChow for the fight club, and most importantly, Winston, for being a wonderful SL and friend. The time we've spent toghther are priceless:]
Alumli: A big THANK YOU for devoting your time, effort and sometimes money on us. You have done the band proud!
Sec1's: Being able to survive the toughness of band with your seniors, I respect you all for making it through. You all are the future of PYMB! Lead on!
Rest of the Band: For the graduating batch, I will miss you all. You guys are the bestest!! For the Sec2's and 3's, you guy too, are the future of PYMB. Persevere, and you will be the best!
SILVER!! PYMB, you did your very best! You will, and must get GOLD in 2010 ok? Yesterday was tense. I could not believe that the day had arrived. I could not sleep the night before. Falled in at 8, as usual. After the formalites, Tahir told us to take our time to set up our instruments. Did formations till 10. Released for lunch until 12.30. Went to Mac with Yuni and Shikin. Started to rain. Was happy, as I thought we could practice more. Went back to school, changed oto full uniform. The rain had stopped. After the UICs and alumli had checcked our uniforms, we watched a video. Its was about The times PYMB had toghther. Pics and short videos on graduating members speaking their mind about the SYF were shown. Testimonials were also show. Many people were crying by then. But the most touching part, was when Khairul's video started. Oh, I cried dammit. After the video, Mr Poh told us to close our eyes, to thimk about the practices, how hard we trained. I really cried. Then, it was time to leave.
On the bus journey, cheers and band songs were sung. It was very mood lifting. We reached our battle zone, the national stadium. Lots of bands were there. TK was impressive. At about 4, we went out to perform. I swear, I gave my best. The scool was cheering like mad. The results annoucment was totally scary. I was damn nervous can? I didn't feel as dissapointed when we got gold, then when Tahir didn't get the best drum major award. My head, which I held up high, sank. We did our best.
Winston was crying after the announcement. Haha, his second time! The whole band then ran towards the front of the school to give an encore. Kept telling Winston we had done our best. WOOHOO!! The encore was hyper! Dance around while playing. Magic, pure magic. Kept lifting my trombone. Haha, kept hitting MingKwang's head also. Oh yeah, Mum and sis were there.
Went out of the stadium after performing. Never felt so happy!:]
The bus ride back to school was hyper-ness! Cheers and songs, all happily screamed out by us. Back in school, idiot Mr Poh asked us to fall in[obviously a joke], but Winston, He tong and I acted dumb and started to run to the field. Took band photo. YiLian, as usual, was shouting at everyone to stand over here, shift the bench over there. Sighs, I miss her nonsense. Finally took photos! Haha! The camwhore in me burst out.:] Then we kept our instruments, for the last time. Emotional time. WOOOOOO!! Bersurai-ed after that, for the last time, again. Got to take pics with the section.:] Oh, we each got a McChicken FOC.
Went to Bedok interchange for supper with ChuRong and Jeff. Had cheeKueh.
